A man was found dead in a motel room earlier this afternoon and his death is raising some questions. Room 124 at the Coconut Grove Motor Hotel Lodge on Front Beach Road, active with investigators.

Around 4:35 Thursday afternoon, deputies responded to a 911 call from the staff at the motel.  "Motel management had noticed that they had not seen the occupant of the room in some time and went to check on him and discovered him inside the room," said Bay Co. Sheriff's Office, Lt. Jeremy Mathis.

Officials with the sheriff's office say this is an unattended death investigation but they are treating it like a homicide until more information emerges. Officials have determined the man's death to be suspicious.

"Some of the circumstances, some of the factors found inside of the room and some of the information we have developed since we've been here, make us ask a few more questions," said Mathis.

The victim has been identified as Gerald Richard Breen, Jr.
