PANAMA CITY, Fla. - Saturday afternoon several members of the Bay County Islamic Society's Youth Group lined 23rd Street in Panama City for a rally.
T he members were there to bring attention to recent injustice happening in Aleppo, Syria.
The youth are urging U.S. elected officials, the UN, and world governments to publicly condemn the killing of innocent people in Syria and intervene by ensuring a cease fire and making sure civilians will be safety evacuated from Aleppo.
Rally goers say they are standing with the Syrian community in Bay County, and abroad.
"As Muslims' and as people we learn from our religion that we cannot stay silent to injustice anywhere when there is thousands of children and thousands of human beings being killed 7,000 miles away and we're staying silent. That to us, that's a crime and we cannot stay silent," said Norhan Saber, Rutherford High School Student.
T he youth group is also urging others in the community to call their elected officials about the need for a cease fire and safe transportation to evacuate civilians from Aleppo.
