Attempted Murder Suspect Caught in Panama City

Panama City, Fla. - A fugitive from Geneva County, Alabama was arrested Tuesday in Panama City. 

Matthew Arthur Oberley, 20,  of Edwards Rd Southport, Florida was wanted by the Geneva County Sheriff's Office for attempted murder in connection to a shooting there, Bay County Sheriff's officials wrote in a news release.

Deputies learned Oberley was in the Bay County and members of the Bay County Sheriff's Office Warrants Division began attempting to locate and arrest him on an outstanding warrant. 

Oberley was located and arrested without incident at the Port of Panama City with the assistance of the Customs and Border Protection officials who are responsible for the security of the Port. Oberley is currently being held in the Bay County Jail pending extradition to the State of Alabama.
