Apalachicola woman charged with animal cruelty

APALACHICOLA, Fla. - An Apalachicola woman has been charged with animal cruelty after officials found a severely injured dog on her property.
 
A resident notified Franklin County Sheriff A.J. Smith that a dog was chained by her neck at a home on Oyster Road. When smith and a deputy arrived, they found the animal named Mia with deep lacerations to her neck caused by the heavy chain.
 
They arrested and booked Amy Anderson into the Franklin County Jail. Smith said animal control officials picked up Mia and will be treating her wounds.
