DeFuniak Springs, Fla. - A Walton County Sheriff's Deputy goes beyond the call of duty to help a family in their time of need.
Sgt. Johnny Jordan responded to calls from concerned family members in Virginia and Washington State. They were pleading for him to check on a loved one in DeFuniak Springs, who had not been responding to their phone calls.
It was then, when the family's worst fears were realized. Turns out their brother had passed away from terminal kidney failure.
Matthew Stevens wrote a letter to the Sheriff's Office, commending Sgt. Jordan for his continuous support and efforts during their time of loss.
"Sometimes, I think we get so busy in life that we forget that, you know, everyday is our decision. And do we influence and help other people, or do we just mind our own way and not do anything to help each other? It's just really important, if we are all going to get where we want to go, that we help each other." Sgt. Johnny Jordan, Walton County Sheriff's Office
After the incident, Sgt. Jordan stayed in touch with the family until they arrived in Florida.
