BONIFAY, Fla. - We're almost to the end of week two of 21 Teams in 21 Days. Next up is the Holmes County Blue Devils.
About 65 players have shown up for camp, making for strong junior varsity and varsity rosters. This includes about 15-16 returning seniors.
This year's starting quarterback is new to varsity but not the program - Tyler Lee. He started the last two years on JV. Head Coach Kevin Womble says he's shown a lot of progression over the last month or so. Things are beginning to click on that end of the ball, while Lee works on his accuracy.
The defense is returning with 7 starters, which Coach Womble hopes will be what leads the Blue Devils to wins this season.
"We're really excited about that side of the ball. I think we've got a good chance to do some good things over there. Without many returning starters, certainly, that should give us a chance against anybody we play. I mean, if they can't score, they can't win. That's kind of our mentality. We really want this year to be a red letter year for our defense and then just have the offense do what they need to do to get us the points we need," said Coach Womble.
